With approximately 4,000,000 registered motorcycles in the US we've gathered enough results to be over 95% confident that the numbers presented here are accurate within a 5% margin of error. However, the people who answered are almost entirely comprised of people who like talking about motorcycles or scooters on internet forums. So we are confident that the results you see below accurate for that group.
The data we have collected can be sliced and diced a thousand ways. If you'd like to see an additional stat from the survey data listed here, just let us know.

A wider range of sizes in comfortable gear. While I have a jacket, I would love to have riding pants but there are none available for a female of my weight and short height. If I can find big men's pants, they do not fit correctly - too long and not made for the female shape. I have a helmet, boots, and gloves that fit - designed for women - so I wear them everytime I ride. My jacket is a men's and the sleeves are too long so the armor is not in the correct places to be comfortable so I do not wear it everytime, but maybe 75%. I would gldly pay 300 for good riding pants that fit a heavy yet short woman if only someone would manufacture them.

Start offering the option of semi-custom fitted protective gear. This year alone, I've spent $770 on a helmet, $500 on leather gear, and another $680 on textile gear. If I went out to spend that kind of money on a dress suit, I would have no shortage of places to choose from that would custom tailoring or custom alterations. If the fitment of safety gear is so critical, why do the manufactures contine to produce S,M,L,&XL as the only size options. Why do the retailers continually miss out on a value-added profit oportunity, and not offer custom fitment of this gear?
We've been able to get ski boots custom fitted for over 30 years now, but walk into a motorcycle dealer for a decent pair of riding boots, and it's take or leave it for sizing, and motorcycle boots (even the shitty ones) cost more than a pair modern ski boots now.

Magazines and websites should ONLY feature riders in full gear. Let riders see pictures of accident aftermath, including damage done to helmets, etc, that saved damage to somebody's skin.

Gear needs to be more practical, and confortable. No one is going to wear full gear to ride a 50cc scooter for a couple of miles. Full gear would cost more than the scooter and the time do get it on and off would be greater than the travel time.

Unless they are type of rider that has been gearing up since they started riding,there isn't. You have to wait till they are involved in an accident, in order to get their attention. This is my personal obsevation.
